Join the Rooftop PTA

The Rooftop PTA plays a key role in fostering a supportive, engaging and well-rounded educational experience. We work closely with the school's administration and leadership committees to implement and enhance educational programs, and organize fundraising events to fund these programs. We also strive to bring families, teachers, and staff together, fostering a sense of community and teamwork, to give space for building relationships, sharing experiences, and supporting one another, helping to create a positive and inclusive school environment.

The funds we raise through our PTA go straight back into our school.  Whether the funding is  spent on new or current programs, such as sensory motor enrichment for TK-2nd graders, the garden at our Twin Peaks Campus, art education, outdoor education, extended library hours, yard staff, community events, math class size reduction for 7th and 8th graders, or in other ways, this money enriches the school experience for each and every student at Rooftop.

Rooftop PTA strives to identify the needs and wants of the whole school community to ensure that our events and funding are serving all students and families.

Why Join the PTA?

Rooftop is a diverse community. Your participation helps make sure that we are representing the diverse interests of the whole school community, including the student body, families, teachers, and staff.

As a member of the Rooftop PTA, you will be able to:

  • Support Rooftop and the programs that make it unique

  • Share your ideas and perspectives with the school’s stakeholders and decision makers (all members of the Rooftop community are invited to do this at PTA meetings regardless of membership status)

  • Vote at all General PTA Meetings. Voting allows you to have a voice in how the money we’ve raised is spent

  • Contribute to building a stronger Rooftop community

  • Support the efforts of both the California and national PTA organizations, both of which do vital work advocating for our children at the state and national levels

Membership Dues

PTA membership dues are $8 per person. About 30% of this money is used to directly fund programs at Rooftop, and the remainder is sent to the California and national PTA organizations. The state and national organizations provide us with guidance and structure so that we may operate thoughtfully and fairly.

Members must re-enroll each year, but if the fee is a challenge, it can be waived by contacting the PTA president at pta@rooftopk8.org. Additional donations are very much appreciated and are tax

deductible. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, part of the California PTA (CAPTA), and our Tax ID # is  2 3 7 3 4 9 9 3 6.

Each household may have an unlimited number of members and can include. caregivers, students, and other relatives. Membership does not come with a volunteering or other time commitment requirement.

By joining the Rooftop PTA through Totem, members will be able to:

  • Securely pay online

  • Access and print PTA Membership cards online or via mobile phone

  • Auto-renew annually

  • Donate directly to Rooftop to support PTA-funded programs

  • View your member benefits (learn more about benefits here: https://capta.org/join/mem)

Thank you for considering a Rooftop PTA membership. This is just one of many ways for us to come together and strengthen our resources to benefit our students and the entire Rooftop community.
