Rooftop loves the Read-a-Thon! We raised over $37,000 in 2024!​

Rooftop started the Read-a-Thon tradition in Fall 2021 after the Rooftop Run was canceled on account of COVID-19.  Watch ParentSquare for a signup link in early Spring. It’s a fun competition and fundraiser rolled into one–very much like the Rooftop Run, but mostly in the cozy comfort of your own home! Using the signup link, you can create a pledge page and collect either flat or per-hour donations from your community. By logging your child’s reading (or time you spend reading aloud to them), you will add to their classroom total throughout the event’s two week period. At the end of the Read-a-Thon, the class with the highest participation rate from each campus will receive a pizza party and the top 3 readers on each campus by amount of time read will receive gift certificates for use in local bookstores!

All you need to participate in the Read-a-Thon is a working email address (please check ParentVUE to make sure it is current). It’s also great to have access to ParentSquare so you’ll know when we send you your unique pledge-page link. We’ll help you with the sales pitch by pre-filling the pledge page, but you can customize it with a photo and your own message. Then you should be all set to ask your family and friends to support your reader. If you so choose, the site will even help you email or text your reader's family friends, relatives, etc., or you can post to social media. Watch the donations roll in as our wonderful community supports our kids’ love of reading!
