Dear Parents / Guardians,

Welcome to School Year 2012 – 2013!

This is Jeff Burgos, your new principal.  Weeks ago, I had the opportunity to meet members of the school community in a gathering sponsored by our Parent-Teacher Association.  I truly appreciate being able to chat and get to know some of you as I take on my leadership role at our school.  It is my goal to work closely with the school community in creating a safe, positive, and joyful environment for all. Our orchestrated efforts will deliver optimal results for all children at Rooftop. I am confident that this school year is going to be a fun and exciting one for our youngsters.

Here we go!  School opens on Monday, August 20th, 2012.  Classes will begin promptly at 7:50 a.m. Please plan on dropping off your child/children early, as traffic is hectic on the first day of school.  For our kindergarten parents, note that we are going to ask you to leave your child with his / her teacher right at the beginning of the instructional day.  They will be totally fine. We invite you to come to the Multi-Purpose Room at the Burnett campus for coffee sponsored by the PTA when the bell rings for coffee.  Our Assistant Principal, Tiffany Kendall-Obayashi, and I will be available to meet with parents, guardians and families.

Just a few reminders:

  • Please expect a packet from the school on Wednesday, August 22nd , that contains important forms that need to be completed no later than Friday, August 24th .
  • Regularly check for up-to-date information we provide our school community.
  • Seventh Grade parents: Please have your child’s TDAP shot record ready for submission.
  • Please plan on coming to our Back-to-School picnic at 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26th , 2012 at Midtown Terrace Playground, 280 Olympia Way.

Feel free to contact the school for questions / concerns at 522-6757 (Mayeda) or 695-5692 (Burnett).  You are also welcome to email me directly at

I am looking forward to a great school year.  Let’s work together to ensure that ALL students at Rooftop have a successful school year.

Jeffrey Burgos
