We Are All Poets Youth Civic Engagement Workshop

Join experienced teacher-poets at the Noe Valley Branch in a free poetry writing workshop for students in grades 4 – 12, where young poets will work on writing their own poems around this year’s theme: “The Power of Peace.”

Workshop participants may enter their poems to be considered for a public reading at the April 18 Grand Finale in the Main Library’s Koret Auditorium, when selected youth poets will read their poems alongside San Francisco City officials. This event will unite government representatives with youth in celebration of the power of words, to promote civic engagement, and to create positive change in the world. And all students who submit a poem will receive a certificate of acknowledgment as a Youth Poet Laureate. Participation in a workshop is not required to have ones poem considered for the April 18 reading, but it is strongly encouraged. Anyone in grades 4 -12 may submit a poem on this year’s theme of “The Power of Peace.” Poems must consist of 25 lines or fewer, in any language (with accompanying English translation). Submit poems online at The deadline for entries is March 31. For more information, call (415) 557-4554.
