Thank you for your interest in Rooftop Alternative School. It is our hope that our tours will offer you a glimpse of what a child experiences at Rooftop. Do note that our tours are for adults only. Baby in carrier is OK (but please be mindful not to disrupt the classrooms or the presentation). But please no preschoolers or toddlers. We appreciate your cooperation.
The Rooftop Lower Campus/Elementary Tour covers the following:
- Tours Groups lead by current Rooftop Parents
- Greetings and Information from our Principal
- Visit each Kindergarten Class
- Visit 1st or 2nd Grade Class
- Visit 3rd or 4th Grade Class
- Visit the Garden
- Visit Sensory Motor Room
- Visit Computer Lab
- Visit the Library
- Information on after-school, Parent Involvement, Busing, PTA, etc
For Upper Campus / Middle School families, we have four tour dates where we provide a tour of the Mayeda (middle school) campus. You start your tour at the Burnett Campus (along with the families interested in the Kindergarten Tour) for General and Principal information. At 8:30 a parent tour guide will walk you over to the Middle School (5-minute walk) to take a look at the classrooms and general areas. NOTE: not all of our tour dates include a Mayeda tour, so be sure to pick your date carefully. The Mayeda dates are:
- November 3
- November 17
- December 8
- January 5
This year our tours are offered every Thursday between 8:00-9:30 from October 27 until January 5, excluding Thanksgiving and Winter breaks.
Parking on Burnett St. & Gardenside Drive
Street cleaning starts at 9:00 AM on Thursdays “below” Rooftop Elementary on Corbett Street. There are fewer restrictions “above” Rooftop on Burnett St. & Gardenside Drive. See the map below for some help.
