The Service Learning Club at Mayeda Campus is organizing a soccer equipment drive to benefit orphans who are the victims of the brutal civil war in the Sudan. During the week of September 23-27, Rooftop families can donate new or gently used soccer equipment (cleats and balls are best, but any equipment is welcome). Look for the donation boxes outside the office on each campus.

The donations will be delivered to the Angels of East Africa Children’s Village the first week of October.  Angels of East Africa currently has 200 orphans at their compound, and has rescued more than 800 children in the past decade.  Soccer is a joyful activity at the orphanage, helping to restore a sense of childhood that has been lost to the horrors of war.  Also, if your student wishes to write a letter to the orphans, it will be delivered with the soccer equipment.
