Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making our International and Multicultural Festival a huge success! Huge thanks to teacher Aaron Weis for taking the lead with this event and our entire Rooftop community for their flexibility and support in making this a special occasion for our students!
A huge “thank you!” to our parent community for helping us celebrate “Teacher Appreciation Week” by providing a special lunch to all Rooftop staff on Friday, May 13th in recognition of our amazing Rooftop teachers.
Also, on Friday, May 13th, be sure to keep an eye out for our special “Principal of the Day, “ Gloria Cebrian! (All phone calls and email should be directed her way!)
Finally, we are excited to share that two teams from Rooftop made it to the semifinals for Technovation Challenge 2016. The girls-only after school program teaches them how to build a mobile app that solves a problem in their community.
The eighth grade team consists of Corrin Merry, Georgia Payne, and Justine Sprinkle. Their app is called High School Prep which is designed to help families in San Francisco navigate the application process.
The sixth grade team is Leigh Wolberger, Lila Shamsi, Naomi Manuel, and Lila Mansky. They designed a game app called EcoLoop that educates people on the environment.
Both teams now go on to compete with others from around the world. The hope is that one or both will make it to World Pitch Day held on July 14 in San Francisco. The winning team gets $10,000 in seed money!
With much gratitude,
Jeff & Tiffany
