One of our ongoing priorities is to focus on issues of equity and diversity. We’ve made great strides in many different areas, and we have a lot of room for growth. Educating our school community around issues of equity and diversity is just one of the ways we’re working to address this priority.
I’m asking for your support in this effort by having you join us for our 1st Annual Equity/Diversity Fair at our Mayeda Campus this Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 10:00-2:00 p.m.
We’re fortunate to have some high-quality presenters lined up for the event, including: Lyric, SFUSD, Our Family Coalition, and San Francisco Coalition of Essential Small Schools (SF-CESS).
Topics for the event will include: dialogue across difference, LGBT issues, the FAIR Education Act, and restorative practices. For your convenience, each session will be repeated three times.
Additionally, we are fortunate to have Walgreens partner with us to provide families with free health screenings. Games and art activities will be available for children.
We hope that you will join us at this Saturday and be a part of what I hope will become a Rooftop tradition. As the second most diverse (and, technically, the most diverse) school in San Francisco, it is my hope that we can be leaders for the rest of the city in exploring issues related equity and diversity.
Thank you for being a part of our team!
