Rooftop Family:

Have you dropped off your donation for the Auction? Please, we need your help!

We’ve noticed an increase in parents doing illegal U-turns on Corbett during morning drop-off at the Burnett campus. Please help us keep our students safe by obeying all traffic safety rules. Thank you!

Parents of students in grades 3-8: The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)/ Smarter Balanced Test (SBAC) will be administered in a window between 3/16 and the end of the school year. We’ve held 2 community meetings (Bayview and Mission) to get input into our planning for the upcoming school year. Feedback received from the community is important and is acted upon. At the recent community meetings, we’ve shared actions that have been taken in response to last year’s feedback from the community. Some of those items include the following:

Enhanced technology and STEAM (particularly in the middle grades) programming:
Fully wireless campus
Chromebooks for all teachers

District will now be funding a full-time social worker and is exploring a part time school nurse.
Wellness Centers will be opened on both campuses.
Both campuses have an active Student Council

Increased social/emotional/behavioral supports:

Using money from the Principal Innovation Fund to provide in-class coaching and professional development for teachers focused on positive discipline, including trauma-informed practices

Mayeda-specific enhancements:
Amphitheater too hot; We’ll be installing a pagoda to provide shade
All of the Mayeda bathrooms have been opened
Overall, Mayeda climate has improved tremendously
Plans are underway to take advantage of the roof: staff cafe, installing a workspace including additional electrical outlets, stainless steel outdoor sink and workspace structure, and garden.
We’ve hosted First Friday Coffee at Mayeda campus

Burnett-specific enhancements:
Providing training for yard staff by Playworks for structured recess activities
We’ve hired a yard coordinator (Ms. Sheila’s son)
8th grade students are earning service hours by supporting recess a few times during the week
Security camera and door buzzer system has been installed for enhanced safety
