Thank you to everyone who came out to support our first African American Parent Advisory Council holiday event! We were thrilled with the turnout, and it was wonderful to see performances by both our students and their parents! The next AAPAC meeting will take place in February at the Bayview Library. Stay tuned for more details!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Winter Workshop such a huge success! This is such a wonderful Rooftop tradition, and it’s great to see our students engaged in such amazing hands-on projects. We were all definitely feeling the Rooftop Spirit!
Rooftop has not been immune to the rash of burglaries plaguing the Twin Peaks area. Several of our neighbors have been burglarized, CASA was broken into over the Thanksgiving break, the main building at Burnett was broken into during an overnight with several items being stolen, and a teacher had her car broken into during an evening school function. Both the SFPD and district are investigating these occurrences.
Staff members have been reminded to secure all valuables. SFUSD has assigned security personnel to Rooftop for the 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. shift to secure both campuses. Doors at the Burnett campus are being re-keyed. Additionally, the work is currently underway for the installation of 14 security cameras on the Burnett campus and a buzzer/camera on the gate at the Corbett Street steps.
If you ever notice anything out-of-the-ordinary related to safety, please let us know. We thank you for working with us as a team to keep school safety our number one priority.
Finally, we’d like to congratulate the following students for their winning essays, “Peace on the Streets” sponsored by the SFPD Park Station. Each of these students will be receiving a bicycle as their grand prize! We have extremely talented student writers at Rooftop!
