Dear Rooftop … thank you to all the parents that participated in the PTA general meeting. It is always the fun part of being the principal to share the great things the staff is doing at Rooftop and to look how the data the state provides supports this message.

I would like to introduce Tara Hayes the counselor of the Middle School.  Transitions are a large part of life as an adolescent and our 8th graders are beginning to prepare for one of those transition; following is a note from Ms Hayes…

Dear Rooftop Families,

The school year is well under way, and off to an excellent start!  For our 8th grade families, this year may be bittersweet, as many of you have watched your children grow and mature within the Rooftop community for many years.

As these last months at Rooftop begin to wind down, all of you will be preparing yourselves for your next chapter…High School.  This is an exciting time for both you and your child, but this time of excitement may also be met with feelings of stress and anxiety when envisioning all of the applications, letters of recommendation, and student essays to be done in months to come.

While this all varies depending on your schools of choice, the common thread is that each 8th grade family hopes to find the RIGHT high school for their child.  My hope is that each 8th grader will find that school that is their perfect fit, and I’d like to extend myself as a resource to answer any questions, and support your family through this process.

I encourage every 8th grade family to attend our High School Information Night this Thursday at 6:30pm in the Mayeda Multi-Purpose Room.

All the Best,
Tara Hayes
School Counselor
