Greetings, Rooftop!

It’s Spring Semester Week 9!  It’s now March and the Spring Semester is almost half over.  Let’s all have another exciting week of learning!

Ready to have fun while supporting our beloved school?  Come on down to the Hall of Flowers this Saturday, March 9th, and join us at the Rooftop’s 20th Annual Auction and Children’s Art Show tagged  “Coming Together:  Building Community Through the Arts.”  Doors open to the public at 5:00 p.m.  First Silent Auction Table closes at 6:55 p.m.  Live Auction hosted by Auctioneer and KFOG Radio Personality Renee Richardson starts at 8:15 p.m.  I surely hope to see you there.

Thank you very much to all of you who came and met with our teachers last week, Parent Teacher Conference Week.  We do appreciate your taking the time to speak with your child’s teachers.  It is in our ongoing communication that we are able to jointly ensure the success your youngster (s) at Rooftop.

The SFUSD Art Festival, the annual celebration of student creativity in visual, literary, media and performing arts, will be held at the Asian Art Museum from March 2 – March 10.  We have a number of students whose art has been selected to represent our school. Admission is free. More information is available at

Thank you to Tina Feliciana, Kristen Hansen, Gloria Molt, and Mary Mottola for representing our school in the SFUSD School Site Council Summit at Everett Middle School last Saturday, March 2nd.

Please note that unclaimed lost and found items at the Mayeda campus will be donated to Casa de las Madres by Friday, March 8th.  If your child is missing something, please have him/her check the Lost and Found box before then.

Middle school report cards should be mailed out to families no later than Wednesday, March 13th.  If you have not received your child’s report cards by then, please do contact the office and we will be happy to send you a copy.

We continue to work together to create a safe, positive and joyful environment for all.  Even with less than smooth moments occasionally rocking our boat, I confidently count on our orchestrated, collective effort in our bringing out the best of the Rooftop Spirit.   It is our strong sense of community that makes our school a special place to be.  I appreciate everything that everyone does in ensuring that we all value each member of our family.

Wishing you a joyful week,
Jeffrey Burgos
