At last you have received your long-awaited SFUSD placement letter with your child’s assignment to Rooftop School. Congratulations! We hope your student will thrive at Rooftop during the next nine years of school life. We look forward to meeting you soon.
So now what? How to register your student and how to familiarize yourself with the new school community?
Rooftop Registration
All new families must register their student in person at Rooftop School. Please follow the directions on the assignment letter that was mailed to you by the SFUSD. If you do not register your student at school by the deadline of April 13, you may lose your student’s spot at Rooftop. Our PTA online sign-ups for the Parent Directory and our E-bulletin (see below) do NOT substitute your registration at school.
Register for the Rooftop Parent Directory
For you to receive all of the information that you need, we ask you to visit our Parent Directory registration page. You will need your school assignment letter from the SFUSD (for your student’s ID number). The information that you provide for the directory will be used by the PTA to communicate with you regarding events, including Kindergarten Orientation and play dates, that will happen before school begins on August 20. In our ongoing attempt to conserve paper and reduce waste at Rooftop, details about these events will only be sent by e-mail.

NOTE: when prompted to select a “Class of 20xx,” incoming Kinder 2012-13 parents should select Class of 2021 (along with any other grades for siblings already attending Rooftop).

We are fortunate to have an active and involved parent community at Rooftop. Without our volunteers and donors, we could not run many of the wonderful enrichment programs that are funded by the PTA, such as Sensory Motor, Garden, Art, Library, Computers, Outdoor Ed, Tutoring and resources for specialized services. We welcome all new families to take a look at our volunteer form and to think of ways in which you can contribute to the school. We all have talents, what is yours?

We welcome all new families to join us on any of the events below. Details will be emailed to the families who registered for our Parent Directory and can also be found here on April 27.
- First Friday Coffee – Friday, May 4, 8 AM (Outside on playground, if raining in MPR. Check in with front office) Come and meet current and new parents at this PTA hosted monthly coffee get-together.
- Kindergarten Play Date - Sunday, May 6, 10 AM at the Sunnyside Playground (200 Melrose Avenue San Francisco, CA 94127) The whole family is welcome for an informal play date to meet new incoming families.
- Parent Orientation – Wednesday, August 15 (no children please)
- Kindergarten Play Date – Saturday, August 18
- First day of school + Welcome Coffee – Monday, August 20
- Meet & Greet for new families & 1st grade parents – Thursday, August 30
Check back for our Kindergarten Information Packet
The Kindergarten Information Packet will be assembled by the Kindergarten teachers and school administration to provide useful information for your family. This information is updated every year. We will send the information by email to all the new families who registered for our Parent Directory. Printed documents will be available at the Kindergarten Orientation Meeting on Wednesday, August 15.
