The Rooftop LGBT Family Group supports and celebrates all LGBT families and children at Rooftop
through education, collaboration and celebration with the larger school community. Entering a new
school can be an exciting and sometimes overwhelming experience. A primary function of the group
is to make new LGBT families aware of:
1. The supportive atmosphere that exists at Rooftop Alternative
2. The substantial LGBT community that exists at both campuses
In addition the member families want to be available if teachers or staff needs suggestions for any
Board of Education Approved Resources (books, films, etc) concerning LGBT families.
The group also hopes to sponsor several play dates in the fall for new families to meet each other
and eventually to have a school wide event during SFUSD LGBT month which is May. Our parent
