It’s never too early to help with Auction planning. Let’s raise those funds to help keep existing PTA programs running and if we raise more than our target amount, think of the possibilities! Perhaps another 1 or 2 new programs? More investment into STEAM? Replacement of supplies and equipment? What’s on your wish list for your child’s education? Please sign up for an Auction Job at Back to School Night.

What’s An Auction Event/Party?

Generally it’s a themed party hosted by a Rooftop family where the initial sign up to be included occurred at last spring’s Auction. If you are new to Rooftop or missed the Auction and would like to participate, contact Verna Liza at 415.29.4581 or auction@rooftopk8.org. Attending one or more of these parties is a great way to meet families and get to know them a little better. It’s also lots of fun and helps raise money for Rooftop. Here’s a listing of parties with spaces still available:

Back to School 3rd Grade Party, $25/child, Sept 6
Drop your kids off at Luca Charbonneau’s home for pizza, movie & popcorn while you enjoy some quality adult time after a busy summer. Everyone happy, it’s so simple. And yes, Luca’s parents will be there too.

Moms’ Marin Headlands Hike and Lunch Adventure, $40/mom, Sept 7, 9am to 2pm
Hang with some super Rooftop mamas during this ½ day Marin headlands hiking and lunch adventure. Enjoy fresh air, a brisk walk, great conversation and lunch. Carpool encouraged.

Literature and Libations, $50/adults only, start date subject to change
Put down your phone and pick up a book! We’ll meet 3 Sunday evenings during the 2014-2015 school year to knock back some cocktails and discuss works by some of today’s most celebrated authors. Our first read will be “Kafka on the Shore” by Haruki Murikami. Subsequent books will be chosen by the group from authors like but not limited to Maria Semple, Jhumpa Lahiri, Zadie Smith, Junot Diaz, ZZ Packer, Amy Tan, Khaled Hosseini, Gary Shteyngart, and Nicole Krauss.

Rooftop Garden Evening Tea, $50/adult only, Sept. 19, 5:30pm
Back by popular demand – an evening visit to our legendary Rooftop garden. Light music by Mike Rao, conversation w/friends old and new, delicious food & a variety of teas. A special opportunity for Mayeda parents who miss volunteering in the garden and for Burnett parents who want to come & enjoy our lovely garden space. Try your luck at star gazing & enjoy the spectacle of wildlife in the yard after dark.

Ricky Raccoon Guided Run Tour, $30/adult only, Sept 21
A guided running tour for you and your friends. Will take place Sunday, Sep. 21, 2014. Ricky Raccoon Running Tours are moderate runs at your pace with a guided tour of 3-5 miles of either: Golden Gate Park, The Presidio National Park, Alamo Square or The Heart of the City (Union Square/China Town/Coit Tower). No one is left behind.

Family Fondue, $50/family of 4 (at least one child must be in Grade 1-3), Sept 27
Sophie Lee and her mother, Georgianne welcome parents and kids to a delicious fondue dining experience. An assortment of sweet and savory fondues will be served. Plus–If you drop a piece of food off your fork in the pot, you have to answer a question!
